Reading: Jeremiah 29:1-7

Exiled Israel waiting in Babylon -The community had “shut down”, they knew that Babylon wasn’t their final destination, so they refused to put down roots, refused to invest in friendships. Jeremiah spoke God’s word to them and said “pray for the welfare of the city in which you find yourself, in the city’s welfare, you’ll find your welfare”.
When you know that your situation isn’t permanent, what ways do you “shut down” in isolation as you wait for the next season?

In what ways does this practice serve you?

In what ways does this practice harm you?
