Our experience of waiting varies with the setting – we wait for children to be born, for terminally ill parents to pass from comas to death, we wait for trees to grow, for traffic lights to change, for test results, first dates to call back. God’s invitation to us in advent is to be alert in our waiting, to watch.
Take note today of the things you wait for, and observe the feeling you experience as you wait for each of those things.
